In reply to your letter of the 4th inst., I am directed by the Board of Admiralty to inform you that there is no definite information in the Department as to the manner in which the Goods of Straits Settlement, subsidiary silver coinage sent out from this Country are placed in circulation. Their Lordship does not suppose that any promises can be demanded by them. There can be no Legislative enactment on their part in supplying the legitimate requirements of the Officer in charge of the
